![]() I understand that it's not possible to use bcdedit.exe from within LiveXP and that's what I'm looking for. I also found BootICE which has a command line and handles XP/NT and Vista/Win7 but I can't find any tutorial for using it. Supposing XP is the easiest part - batch file to process BOOT.INI,Īfter researching a bit I found that there is a way to handle Vista's/Win7 by WMI classes using VB scripts. I'm trying to figure out how to change nextboot or default boot of XP/Vista/Win7 to boot in safe mode by a script or a batch file. Msgbox "Click yes, no or cancel" "Message box" %e% = %NO% echo You clicked %e% = %YES% echo You clicked %e% = ?NCEL% echo You clicked cancel GOTO /A ICON_TYPE="%MB_ICONINFORMATION% | CANCEL=2 Msgbox "You selected %choice%" "Your choice" %MB_ICONINFORMATION% Msgbox "Please type yes or no" Error %MB_ICONERROR% Msgbox "You clicked cancel" Inputbox %MB_ICONEXCLAMATION%įOR /F "delims=" %%A in ('ReadInputBox.exe') do SET choice=%%A InputBox.exe "Type yes to continue, no to exit" "Hello" 100 100 This toolset could also target WinPE systems with a command-line shell. The string is stored in a registry entry named InputBoxString found in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\EnvironmentĪ third tool named Msgbox can be used to display message boxes to inform the user. No any dependence to the Visual Basic scripting engine.Īnother tool named ReadInputBox will read the string returned by InputBox. Here is a simple input box command-line tool to support batch files. ![]() I believe it is possible with LiveXP, but i just don't understand how i would do my registry changes and install the apps if I have to create the PE from the install disk. I tried to use imagX and the latest WAIK but it did not boot and I kinda new it wasn't going to. I do have XP licenses for every computer by the way. Since nothing but the installed games is going to be ran on them, is it possible to just capture my micro XP OS from my master and somehow put it on a 4 or 8 GB thumb drive to run in a live environment? That way I would only have to afford 19 usb drives. As you may know hard drives are very expensive now, and buying a set of sata hd's for these computers will set me back about $2000! ![]() ![]() The mobo's are fairly new and compact in these pc's so they do not have IDE ports. I watch kids all day for work and they like to play these simple learning games, so I have 19 other computers with the exact same specs but that they do not have hard drives in them. The OS and apps take up about 3.5 GB of HD space and I will call this the master computer. I prefer micro xp because it is very small and it boots very fast. It has a few simple learning games on it and everything is perfect. I have a pc running micro xp, 2 GB of ram, and a 500 GB hd. Hi, I am a noob to all this and I have a few questions to ask to see if a solution is possible. ![]()
